Search Engine Optimisation, Authorisation, and Ranking are the keywords to search engine traffic.

Snooooooooooooooze!!!!!!

Search Engine Optimisation, I can’t think of anything more boring, however…

Organic traffic can bring a large amount of traffic to your website. In fact, somewhere in the region of 50% in time will come from organic traffic.

It takes time, however; you will not get traffic overnight. You need to optimize your website or blog from day one to become an authority site in time and increase your rankings.

There are many elements that fit together like cogs to achieve this and we will be going over many of them in this post.

Once you have your website or blog ranking in the search engines, you will not need to pay for traffic any more.

You will have earned your traffic.

You need to build your authority as a new website has none.

This takes time and patience and can often feel like it is soul-destroying because you are putting in all the effort you can but still Google does not send you traffic.

Make sure your content is unique and relevant to your market. Include as many long articles and guides on your subject as possible. 1500+ word contents are good.

Google likes quality and relevant content. Over time, other websites will start to see your content and start linking to your website. You want as many sites linking to you as possible and the better the quality of the sites linking to you the more exposure Google will give you.

Be persistent and patient and build your content regularly, build your social networks. Don’t worry if you don’t see results and think it is not working. Keep going.

Strategies and tips

Top tip No 1.

Find keywords and phrases in your market or niche. You could simply use Google search. If your niche is health & fitness you could search “how to lose weight”

As you can see Google gives you alternative search phrases, create content around these search terms, and post the articles
you write to your blog.

As well as Google, there are many keyword research tools, Google has its own, Google Keyword Planner. Use other search engines
as well, Bing is a good choice for this practice.

Think of content creation this way…. Each piece of content you produce is a piece of internet real estate, the more real estate you own the more people will find you.

Long-tail keywords are better than 1 or 2 word keywords as these are very generic and often more competitive.

So, what do we mean by a long tail keyword? A great tool for keyword planning is “keywords everywhere” it is actually an add-on to your browsers such as Chrome or Firefox. Every time you search a keyword in your browser, alongside the results, it shows you related keywords.

In addition to showing you related keywords, it reveals other keywords that people have searched that are similar.

The results shown by keywords everywhere show you the volume of searches for each keyword and some additional information which is related to advertising and a great help if you intend to use Google ads or another
advertising platform.

The above image shows the similar searches people have made and you can also see the additional information provided, CPC and Comp. CPC stands for costs per click when advertising and Comp stand for how competitive each keyword is.

We started with the question what is a long-tail keyword?

To get these related searches and similar searches, I started by typing in a short keyword “lose weight”

In the related search results, you will see keyword searches such as: “how to lose weight in 7 days” and “how to lose weight fast without exercise” These are examples of long-term keywords.

Top Tip No 2.

Once you have prepared your content, it is time to publish it on your website or blog. Before doing so, however, it is essential to optimize your content.

Optimizing your content will give you a better chance of ranking for the keywords that you are targeting. It’s a good idea to use search engine optimization software to help here.

If you have a WordPress blog, there are a couple of fabulous plugins that can help you with this process. These are All In One SEO and my preferred choice Yoast. Both are simple to use and great pieces of SEO software.

There are several essential elements that you should carry out to optimize each of your blog posts.

TARGET 2 long-term keywords for each blog post.

TITLE Your title should always include the keyword that you are targeting.

HEADINGS If you have headings in your text include your keyword in the heading.

CONTENT Include your keyword early in your story. In the first or second paragraph.

IMAGES You should always include images in your posts, however, it is very important that you include the Alt text for every image. Google can read text; it cannot read images so include you keyword and alternative keywords in the Alt text for your images.

Can be quite daunting as it is a massive topic and a very
specialist area.

There are many platforms that will host your blog,
in my opinion, wordpress.org is by far the best.
So if you have not yet posted your content, I
highly recommend you use WordPress.

If you choose a good platform to host your
domain, they will have an easy one-click install
for WordPress.

It is highly likely that the All In One SEO plugin will be automatically included with the install. This is a great, simple-to-use tool, but as I mentioned earlier, my preference is YOAST.

Like the All In One SEO plugin YOAST is free. It does have a premium version, but you do not need this to optimize your blog posts.

This is taken from one of my posts on my blog and clearly shows you how simple it is to use. Copywriting is highly skillful and Yoast tells me exactly where I have gone wrong and what I have done well. The red dots are the errors and it tells me how to correct and the green dots tell me that it’s good to post.

The final essential task to optimize your blog is: LINKING Link your pages. Every time you post new content, you should link your pages. This gives flow through your site and makes it easier and quicker for Google to index your pages.

As an example, I mentioned earlier CPC, Cost Per Click advertising. This is a subject that warrants its own detailed article. It is a good idea therefore to write an article on CPC and link to it in this post.

What else could be done to maximize the free organic traffic that you need?

> Quality content make sure your content is good so that people want to read and link to it.

> Promote your content on Social media.

> Collaborate with other bloggers and ask them to post your content on their website and vice versa.

> Find influencers in your niche and offer to post on your blog for them.

> Create content that people have to link to because it is a great resource.1500 to 2000 words is what I recommend.

I hope you have gained value and learning from this post and you can see how attention to the boring stuff really does = more $$$.
