The importance of having a quality lead magnet to build your list cannot be overstated.

A lead magnet is, of course, something of value that you offer potential subscribers in exchange for their email addresses.

The lead magnet will be on your landing page. People will see the offer and either accept it and give their email, or they will leave your page.

I think it’s one of the best ways to start list-building for beginners because it’s pretty easy to do. But you must do things the right way to succeed.

The first thing you must etch into your brain is that your lead magnet must absolutely be something of high quality. It must stand out from the pack and offer true value.

Why? Because…

You will be judged!

Your subscribers are far and away more likely to buy the products and services you recommend if they trust you. Gaining trust is the key to earning maximum profits.

The fastest way to gain trust is by overdelivering with your lead magnet.

Remember, this is the first time you and your subscribers have “met,” – and first impressions mean everything. You will be judged based on the quality of your lead magnet.

Send your brand-new subscribers a shabby or underwhelming lead magnet and you’ve lost them. It’s just a matter of time until they unsubscribe.

On the other hand, send something of top-notch quality that really wows them, and you could have repeat customers for years and years. That’s why a quality lead magnet is so important.

Many marketers create reports or how-to guides. They can be fine if done correctly. But I like to get personal with my lead magnet. Here’s how:

Help them make sales

Your new subscribers are just like you: they want to make money online. So… help them do it in your lead magnet!

Let me use John’s Ambassador Program (of which I’m a member) as an example. I want to get new subscribers onto John’s webinar so they will join via my affiliate link, and I’ll earn a commission.

Now, I could create a lead magnet that explains how people can make high-ticket commissions in this new Ambassador Program. Or, I could actually help them make money with the program.

The latter method is massively more effective. Here’s what I do:

I create a landing page on which I offer people 200 free visitors into their funnel to kickstart their business when they join the Ambassador Program. I also offer 6 months of free coaching to help them succeed.

A surefire way to gain trust

Remember when I said you must gain trust? Well, nothing gains a measure of instant trust like offering people free money, which is basically what I’m doing.

This lead-magnet offer entices about 40% of people to sign on to my list. I then take them immediately to my “bridge page.”

This is a page where you introduce yourself and explain the benefits of the main offer, before sending them to that offer.

On my bridge page, I briefly explain what the AP is about. I tell my subscribers that the main way they make money is by sending traffic into a DFY funnel.

Therefore, to help them succeed I will send 200 people into their Super Funnel to help them grow their list and make their first sales.

How can I afford this? I take it out of my commission, and I’ll still be turning a good profit.

It’s a big win-win

I’ll gladly forfeit $200 to make $800. And in the process, I’m helping my subscribers to make their first sales. It’s a classic win-win.

You can use the same strategy with any high-ticket program. You don’t have to give free traffic. You could give a “rebate” – when someone buys, get their receipt then plop $100 or even $200 into their PayPal account. You could offer to buy traffic and send it into their funnel; you could offer to make their first sale for them using your funnel.

Use your imagination. There’s always a way you can help your new subscribers by taking a portion of your commission and investing it back in them.

You’ll make many more commissions than if you used a conventional lead magnet.

If you want to see what my funnel looks like, or if you’d like to join me: CHECK IT OUT.
