What is an autoresponder?
An autoresponder is a computer program that automatically answers e-mail sent to it. They can be very simple or quite complex. The first autoresponders were created within mail transfer agents that found they could not deliver an e-mail to a given address.
Autoresponders are really used to build one of the biggest assets an internet marketer can have and that is obtaining leads. Some of the popular autoresponders today are, Get Response, Aweber, Sendlane, Mail Chimp, to name a few. Without an autoresponder, you would have to manually send emails to your list of subscribers. But the true value in an autoresponder is you can set it to send out emails automatically.
Successful marketers will tell you how important it is to have one. They are so valuable and also many of them have 30 day free trials so you can get everything going for 30 days for free. For someone who is on a tight budget, you can take advantage of this. You will be able to communicate with your leads even when you are sleep. How cool is that!
Leads
Leads are stored using the autoresponder which is what you want to concentrate on as a marketer and that is building up your leads. Now the way you get leads is through traffic but you don’t want to just rely on traffic along because you can’t control it. Yes, traffic is important but it’s the leads that carry value because these are people that have become subscribers collected by the autoresponder to be on your newsletter.
These are people that over time you develop a relationship with to share offers and tools in marketing online that can help them achieve success. This is where the autoresponder is so valuable because like I said before it automates the work by responding to people who gave up their email to get something of value and now you have a lead that could be of value for years down the road.
Proven System
First of all, what do I mean when I say a proven system. Let’s first define the word ‘system’. It’s essentially a way or a method of how something is done. For example, you have systems at your job or you may have a system with sports in how things are run and especially with internet marketing.
But I mentioned not just having a system but a proven system. Because you can have a system or develop a system of doing things but is it proven? I have found that you have a lot of different ways people do things online but they are shooting in the dark trying to figure things out.
That is not necessarily bad but I heard someone say that if you want to be successful in a certain thing find someone who is already successful in the area you are interested in and do what they do.
Same as marketers who have achieved success are ones who have found a proven system they have tested, tried and found to be true and if followed eventually success will be achieved. A good example of proven systems are franchises like McDonald’s or Wal Mart.
You know without a shadow of a doubt that if you go to any McDonalds or Wal Mart they will have the same system in place because they found it to be effective. This leads me to the last thing I want to share and that is having an attitude for success is important for success.
Attitude For Success
Personally, having the right attitude is a big thing for me. I truly believe that your attitude determines your altitude. I have come to realize in working for someone versus being in business for yourself, there is a difference in the attitude you have to possess. It’s a certain mindset that you have to be willing to adjust to.
I love programs that understand how important it is someone is used to being an employee for someone versus being in business for yourself. It is an adjustment that may not be easy, but anyone can do it. It is a process when someone works on their they will get there.
There really is a mental aspect of trying to be a business owner. Being a business owner means educating yourself and investing in yourself to learns skills that will eventually bring you to success. Attitude may seem little but it does make the biggest difference.

Nice post Bernie. Very informative and I totally agree with your thoughts on Mindset. In these very difficult times we’re all facing with the Coronavirus its even more important than usual that we focus our attention on our mindset and the questions we are asking our self.
This is such an overlooked area not just by those new to online marketing but by many not so successful offline business owners.
