{"id":44,"date":"2007-10-10T18:12:53","date_gmt":"2007-10-10T18:12:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/planetsmsblog.com\/day-10-october-10th\/"},"modified":"2007-10-10T18:12:53","modified_gmt":"2007-10-10T18:12:53","slug":"day-10-october-10th","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.johnthornhill.com\/blog\/day-10-october-10th\/","title":{"rendered":"Day 10 &#8211; October 10th"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>All I have done all day today is work on my support system.<\/p>\n<p>I have been testing to make sure everything is working just right.<\/p>\n<p>It is now fully up and running at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.planetsmshelpdesk.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">www.planetsmshelpdesk.com\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>I have been adding autoresponder messages to all my email accounts, putting links to my helpdesk on all my websites, adding messages to the knowledgebase and basically testing the whole system.<\/p>\n<p>Everything seems to be running smoothly and judging by the small amount of tickets I am receiving the knowledgebase seems to be doing it&#8217;s job.<\/p>\n<p>If you get a lot of support emails you will know the majority is simply day to day stuff that can eat up your time, stuff like:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How do I download my eBook<\/li>\n<li>How do I open my eBook.<\/li>\n<li>I have lost my password.<\/li>\n<li>How do you automate delivery.<\/li>\n<li>How do I promote your products.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Etc.<\/p>\n<p>Now most enquiries are covered by my new support system through the knowledgebase. In fact it even suggests answers to your query as you type. How cool is that?<\/p>\n<p>The result is there has been two tickets so far today whereas there would have had about fifty emails to answer.<\/p>\n<p>So even though the helpdesk is brand new I can see how it is going to free up so much time.<\/p>\n<p>So if you find your day is becoming increasingly wasted in answering emails I can highly recommend a helpdesk.<\/p>\n<p>The system I use cost $500 from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kayako.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">www.kayako.com\/<\/a> so I am not saying rush out and buy that but whatever you decide to use make sure it has the ability to add a knowledgebase.<\/p>\n<p>I have used a free system called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.maianscriptworld.co.uk\/free-php-scripts\/maian-support\/free-support-ticket-system\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Maian Free Support<\/a> for one of my sites<a href=\"http:\/\/www.maianscriptworld.co.uk\/free-php-scripts\/maian-support\/free-support-ticket-system\/index.html\" title=\"Maian Free Support\"><\/a> and for starters it is fine and does a great job.<\/p>\n<p>You may also find you can install a support system via your webhost cpanel.<\/p>\n<p>So as your business grows remember this post, one day you will need a support system.<\/p>\n<p>I will be back to making money tomorrow so until then&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>All I have done all day today is work on my support system.
