I like to think I’m rather security conscious\u00a0online, I backup all of my computers to 3\u00a0external sources including a cloud backup.<\/p>\n

I do this because I’ve seen others lose\u00a0everything. A couple of years ago one of\u00a0my students lost 6 months worth of work\u00a0when their hard drive failed and they didn’t\u00a0have a backup. Even though I had told\u00a0them the importance of backing up their\u00a0work and had step by step instructions\u00a0showing them how to do it.<\/p>\n

I use this story to make sure my current\u00a0students backup their work.<\/p>\n

So if I can offer any advice make sure\u00a0you’re backing up to at least 2 external\u00a0locations as one day you could lose\u00a0everything. All you need is an external\u00a0hard drive. Dropbox<\/a> is also handy for\u00a0backing up but should not be your\u00a0only backup source.<\/p>\n

You should also be backing up your sites, all of my sites are downloaded to external\u00a0locations ‘just in case’ and I also backup
\nmy WordPress sites on a regular basis.<\/p>\n

And if you have any WordPress sites you\u00a0could do a lot worse than grab Blog\u00a0Defender<\/a> from Matt Garrett.<\/p>\n
