SuccessIn a couple of days, the end of the first month of this New Year will arrive. Most resolutions have been forgotten, and life has probably returned to normal for you. Accepting this reality will prevent life-changing progress during this year if you do not change course today. Your dream of a new life must not perish in the first 30 days. Fight the tendency to be a member of the status quo herd and take some specific steps to reclaim your pathway to success on your own terms.

Have you made any changes?

One-twelfth of the year is now behind us. We have most of the year ahead of us to make remarkable progress if we make careful changes. Your goal might require more training. Maybe you will have to purchase tools, such as software or domain names to reach your goal. Changes to your lifestyle will present barriers that can be frustrating if you do not define the resources that you need. Your situation will be unique, but the solution might be obvious with some insight from someone else.

One of my Partnership to Success students recently shared the fact that her product creation stalled completely because she didn’t create a simple MindMap to plan the product creation process. Once she defined the barrier, she devised a MindMap and removed the obstacle. That product will be launched in the very near future. Name the barrier that prevents you from making necessary changes and move forward. If you need to master a specific task to make something happen then go do it but whatever you do don’t make excuses. ‘I don’t know’ is one of the biggest barriers to success.

What do you know today?

On our quest to earn money through new avenues, we might skip some of the preliminary steps. Preparation reduces the mistakes that you make that can be expensive when you have limited time and resources. Consider the next step that you must take and take things one step at a time. Defining each single step might be your breakthrough to remarkable progress during this coming month. Lack of knowledge can be overcome in ways, which include research, training and reading. Before you assume you are off course, pause and make of list of what you know to be true at this point in time.

Are you noticing progress?

Maybe you are right on track with your goal for this year. Fear of the unknown might be looming in the back of your mind. One approach to fear is to write down your fears on a piece of paper, place it in an envelope and burn the envelope, preferably outside. Refuse to be the person who becomes paralyzed by the “what if?” Most of what we fear will never happen. You have so many talents and such great potential. Continue down your path and refuse to stop.

Your pace will increase and decrease throughout the coming months as you learn more and meet great people along your path. Patience is a great quality for the person who has big dreams. Consistent effort each day is better than overworking yourself once in a while. Your success journey started with a great idea and will continue as you work toward your goals.

Do you need to make adjustments?

Almost everyone will find ways to improve some aspect of the work, the team or the surroundings. Your highest priority is to make wise choices since your time is limited. Maybe you had one idea at the beginning of the year, and the goal has changed. That situation arises often. Your determination will bring your new idea to life. Changes to your course will happen when you take action starting where you are right now.

Our progress this year can begin today. Identify some tasks that you would like to accomplish in the next 30 days. Maybe you have time to complete one task on your list each week. Your challenge each Monday is to schedule time during the week to work on your task. On Thursday, assess your progress and find the answers you need to achieve your goal each Friday. You can make progress with consistent effort starting from where you are right now.

Remember! No excuses. Only progress.

      Great post John.

To my mind, being a man (or lady) with a plan really does give you a sense of purpose. With my Wife Karen, I am nearing the completion of a product that is set to give this some real focus.

More generally, the mantra for us this year is “build the list”. Not particularly original I know, but this is giving us the energy to move forward and achieve our goals.

Had a great start to the year already and have a plan of action to follow for the next 60 days to move forward and grow my business even further.

I overcame a lot of obstacles in one go at the start of the year and broke down a few barriers that I needed to overcome if I was to keep growing both as a person and with my presence online.

One of the biggest things I lacked previously was consistency and once that was added to the mix, things really started to take shape and move forward. Who’d have thought that by not acting consistently then your results would reflect that?

One thing that I’ve noticed more over the last 4-5 months is that I’m not as stressed out as I used to be and that’s because I can put work down at the end of the day and come back at it the next day. Whereas before I’d work every given hour on my business, and now I work a set number of hours, and it’s solid no distractions work time and I’m getting the same amount done. Now in the evenings I am able to socialise with peers and network to build relationships that will help my business to grow in the future.

Great post John, can’t believe it’s almost the end of January already!

      Hi,

This time last year I was making zero progress, but now that I have started your PTS course I am finally making some. I can’t believe it is already the end of January. 🙁

Great post John. This is so true.

      Consistency is the key.
Hard work and focusing on the right things, applying the 80/20 rule will get you success sooner.

      Keep it going for February!!

      Hey what’s up John,

I’m actually behind schedule since I wanted to have a Kindle book published before January ended but since I aimed for the moon (well kind of) I’m still making progress regarding of the book taking a little bit longer to be ready.

Today I managed to pay one of my credit cards in full so that’s a huge achievement for me, hope to keep making progress and get that book ready somewhere in February (I should be more specific with my deadlines but I simply have way too many moving parts in my life right now)

Great article and will definitely focus on getting things done and completed more often.

      Sergio

PS. Thanks again for having my back today (you know what I’m talking about) 😉

      Hi John,

You could not be more right, although I know this from success in other parts of my life; up until now I have not applied this to P2S! I have been here since 2011 and have used every excuse going! The truth is- I know that if I follow the plan consistently I will succeed.

It’s great watching over these few years and seeing the success people here have had and long may that continue.

I also just want to say that I am on a personal challenge to comment on all the blogs on P2S. I have a list of 155 and I want to complete this by 22nd of March 15, so remember that and please feel free to visit my blog and return the comment 🙂

Thanks again John for all your help

      Paul 🙂
